Marcus Trescothick steps down as Somerset captain

Somerset on Thursday announced that Marcus Trescothick has stepped down as captain, paving way for former Australia batsman Chris Rogers to takeover the reins from the former England opener. Rogers will lead the side in the County Championships, while Jim Allenby will lead the club in all white ball tournaments. Trescothick has led Somerset since 2010 and his decision to resign as captain was mutual one. other than being a prolific run-getter for Somerset, Trescothick was a phenomenal player for England at the international level as well, scoring over 10,000 international runs for them, which include as many as 26 centuries in his career.
