Only Shane Watson has been the economical bowler of the lot, giving just eight runs off his two overs. Even Coulter-Nile has been hit for 23 runs off two overs.

James Faulkner finally drew first blood for Australia when he dismissed Guptill in the eight over. Guptill made a decent connection but fell short of length and was caught by Glenn Maxwell around cow’s corner to leave New Zealand at 61 for 1 after 7.1 overs. That wicket brought in Colin Munro, who has been in good form recently having scored the second fastest T20I fifty in their recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Glenn Maxwell was brought into the attack in the ninth over just when the New Zealand were going almost 10 an over. He put a break in their runs by dismissing New Zealand’s current best batsman, Williamson in his very second delivery. While trying to smash it over the top, Williamson misjudges it and was caught by Agar at long off.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. They made one change from their playing XI of their spectacular win against India in the opening match at Nagpur. Mitchell McClenaghan was brought in replacing senior spinner, Nathan McCullum.
