Ryan hints Rohit to be fit for Champions Trophy clash v NZ

Team India got a massive relief ahead of their Champions Trophy final group A clash against New Zealand, set to be held in Dubai International Stadium on March 2. Earlier, there were reports that captain Rohit Sharma might be put to rest as he had a hamstring injury during the clash against Pakistan. However, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has given the confirmation that Rohit has no concerns regarding injury and is fit to play.

He’s all right. It’s an injury he’s had before, so he knows how to manage it really well,” Ryan said.

There were reports that Shubman Gill might potentially make a captaincy debut against New Zealand, but Ryan’s statement has confirmed Rohit’s participation in the match. Though Rohit has been explosive with his bat during this event, giving flying starts to the team, he is yet to touch even the fifty-run mark.

The clash between India and New Zealand is a dead rubber as bot the teams have qualified for the semifinals. The match only has significance on determining the table toppers from Group A, in order to place them against the runners-up from Group B.

Who will face India in the semifinals?
There are three scenarios for the semifinal clash against India:
1) If South Africa beat England, and India beat New Zealand, the Men in Blue will face Australia in the semifinal.
2) If England beat South Africa, and India beat New Zealand, Men in Blue will face South Africa.
3) If India loses to New Zealand, they will be playing against the table toppers for Group B.
