Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) may have suspended Pandurang Salgaoncar, but will nevertheless wait for ICC s investigation before taking severe action against him. Salgaoncar was caught on camera by undercover reporters from India Today for allegedly tampering the pitch. MCA chief Abhay Apte had suspended Salgaoncar from all MCA roles hours before the second ODI between India and New Zealand. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Apte said: I had called for an emergent working committee meeting on Thursday and it has endorsed my decision.

On ICC s pending investigation: The ICC has also opened an inquiry. We won’t carry out a parallel probe. It won’t make any sense. Salgaonkar will be given a chance to explain his side of the story. The ICC process is expected to happen in Dubai and we are expecting their verdict within two months. BCCI have now indicated that they are likely to quiz West Zone curator Ramesh Mhamunkar over his role in the whole Pune pitch controversy.
