So far, Ravichandran Ashwin has scalped 49 Test wickets in 2016 AFP

Since the beginning of India‘s home Test season this year, which started with New Zealand series, the talks over Indian pitches have once again begun. It first started last year during South Africa‘s tour of India, where Protea side were beaten badly by 3-0. From the first Test of that series, the issue of pitch came under scanner as it supported the Indian spinners heavily. Similarly, with the start of the ongoing Test season for India, the same thing is once again back in headlines, to which India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took a dig at media with his witty reply. After seizing control in the ongoing second Test after the end of second day’s play, Ashwin was questioned about the condition of pitch. He looked unhappy with the question and called it a ‘jibe’ and suggested to focus on Visakhapatnam pitch. “One day I really wish to walk into a press conference and stop answering questions on the pitch,” Ashwin said this with a quirky smile on his face. He further continued and added, That is as good as an Indian pitch one can get. I don t know why this jibe comes back at us. Honestly it looks like a jibe the way we are looking at Indian wickets. It does. Honestly you guys (media) watch the game through the day and the pitch is something that you can assess better than we do,”

Ashwin scalped two wickets on Day 2 and it was clear that the pitch has started offering turn to spinners. Day 3 will be interesting to watch as the focus will be on Indian spinners.
