Mehidy Hasan stars as Bangladesh edges over Pakistan on Day 2
Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed an impressive 5-wicket haul to help Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan for 274 on the second day of the second Test in Rawalpindi on Saturday. The 26-year-old recorded his 10th fifer in Tests to cap a good day for the visitors, who are aiming to win only their third away series.
Mehidy also produced brilliant figures of 4/21 during the first Test which ended up turning the match in Bangladesh’s favour and massively helped the visitors to win the encounter by 10 wickets.
During the second Test, Mehidy dismissed Pakistan captain Shan Masood for 57 and opener Saim Ayub for 58 after the home team had been well-placed on 99/1 at lunch.
He would then pick up the wickets of Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali and Abrar Ahmed to end the innings with amazing figures of 5/61.
The spinner was also assisted well by pacer Taskin Ahmed who also took great figures of 3/57. Taskin dismissed opener Abdullah Shafique for a duck before taking important wickets of Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman.
Bangladesh would only face 2 overs before the day would come to an end. The visitors finished on the score of 10/0 with opening batters Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan batting on 6 and 0 respectively.
