It’s ten years to the day that Michael Clarke, present Australia skipper, made his debut at Chinnasamy stadium in Bangalore in the 1st test of the four- match series against India. Clarke celebrated the occasion by scoring a century on debut against an Indian attack that included the likes of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh and pacers Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan.

Clarke went onto make 151 as Australia won the test match by 217 runs and took a 1-0 lead. Clarke negotiated Kumble and Harbhajan the way an experienced pro would have. The fact that he seemed assured against spinners of the quality of Kumble and Harbhajan in his very first outing showed he was a terrific player in the making. Since his debut on that day Clarke has gone onto become the Australian skipper and feature in a 105 tests.
