In an attempt to meet the ICC World Cup 2015 deadline, injured Australian skipper Michael Clarke has returned to batting in Sydney after being ruled out of the just-concluded Test series against India.

Facing throwdown, Clarke batted for 15 minutes in the nets at the Sydney Cricket Ground before returning to the team dressing room to watch coach Darren Lehmann guiding his team ahead of the first match against England in the ongoing triangular series, which includes India, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Clarke, who injured his right hamstring in Adelaide Test, must recover from surgery in time for Australia’s pool game against Bangladesh on February 21 or he would be replaced.
