Former England captain Michael Vaughan, who is in India these days in capacity of a cricket expert to cover the India-England Test series, found an interesting way of describing the Wankhede pitch during the ongoing Mumbai Test. On Sunday, ahead of the start of Day Four’s play, Vaughan posted a small video from his official Twitter account to give his pitch report. Interestingly, Vaughan made an unconventional analogy, when he compared the pitch with ‘biscuits’. Yes, you read it right, biscuits. He was accompanied in his report by noted English sports journalist and broadcaster Henry Blofeld, who is best known as a cricket commentator for Test Match Special on BBC Radio.

Vaughan started the report by praising Virat Kohli’s excellent batsmanship and then quickly switched focus on the pitch report. He spoke how the Wankhede pitch was said to have that orange tinge due to the soil, before comparing it with a biscuit on Day 1. He then demonstrated with the help of a spoon and a pitch made of biscuits on the table that how the Wankhede pitch has turned out in last four days. His description of the pitch makes for an interesting view, for perhaps never in your life before you must have seen such analogy. Watch him reason here:

Vaughan had rich words of praise for Kohli, and the Indian captain deserves every bit of it. He is unbeaten on 212, his highest Test score, at lunch on Day Four. India are comfortably placed in the Test and look all set to win it and go 3-0 up in the series with final Test in Chennai yet to be played.
