Mitchell Johnson said that he likes watching England get thrashed. That does not come as a surprise. The Australians like to be at the Englishmen’s throat. Along with cricket, The Ashes also brings some hostility to the table. Johnson took a dig at Alastair Cook again, this time adding that the English openers carries scars from his team’s previous humiliation in Australia. Speaking to the media after training with Big Bash team Perth Scorchers at the WACA, Johnson said: “Alastair Cook is someone who I think has been thinking about retirement. I just wonder now with the scoreline being 3-0 whether that will take a bit of pressure off him and he’ll just go out there and score runs. I’m not sure. I think the scars are there from the last series.”
Cook has scored 83 runs at 13.8 in 3 Tests. Stuart Broad, on the other hand, has a mere 3 wickets in at 61.8. Johnson reckons that England need to look for another pacer. “Going to the next test I think England will have to think about changes. Iâm not sure if Stuart Broad is up to it at the moment. There will be some question marks around him, (as) a senior player.”
Johnson concluded it by taking a poking another criticism at the English team. “As an ex-player, Iâd love to see a 5-0, Iâm not really that fussed on what happens out in the middle. I donât like seeing close games when itâs against England, I just want to see them get thumped.â
