Mitchell Johnson’s 12 wicket haul had left South Africa in smithereens during Australia’s massive 281 run win in the first Test at centurion. Johnson’s figures of 12 for 122 became the third best figures by an Australian against the proteas in their own backyard.

However, spinning legend Charlie Grimmett’s 13 and 14 wicket hauls in the 1930’s remains the best of all time and the form that the left-arm pacer is in at the moment; nobody can dare to put those figures beyond him.

More than the wickets, it remains to be seen how the hosts bounce back from the psychological and the physical damage they endured from of Johnson’s ‘rib-smashers’.
