Mitchell Marsh states Rishabh Pant would be the first person to admit he did not have a great IPL season
Marsh stated Pant will be first to accept not having great IPL season
Even though he was bought for the highest price in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant could not manage to live up to the expectations of being a match-winner. As the conditions are currently going, Mitchell Marsh stated that Pant would be the first person to accept that he did not have a great IPL season.
As he has had failed efforts in what has been his worst IPL season since his debut in 2016, Rishabh Pant has scored only 134 runs in 12 matches with a dismal strike rate of less than 100.
“He would be the first one to say that he hasn’t had a season that he would have liked, but I know for myself personally that that’s the way cricket goes sometimes. We know that he’s a fantastic player, highly skilled and highly talented, so he will be back, but yeah, hopefully the last two games.” Marsh told reporters.
Speaking about their last clash, Abhishek Sharma (59) and Heinrich Klaasen (47) powered Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a six-wicket triumph over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL clash here on Monday.
As they were chasing a score of 206, Sharma gave SRH the perfect start with his 20-ball 59 with six sixes and five fours set them on the path to win.
Ishan Kishan also flourished in his 28-ball 35 while Kamindu Mendis made 32 before retiring hurt.
SRH scored 206/4 in 18.2 overs as last year’s finalists recorded only their fourth win.
Earlier, openers Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) hit fifties as Lucknow Super Giants set a 206-run target.
Marsh and Markram were in top form to put on 115 runs inside the first half but LSG lost their momentum in the second during which Eshan Malinga delivered 4-0-28-0.
