Mitchell Starc completes 50 ODI wickets during 1st game of tri-series against England

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has completed 50 One-Day International (ODI) wickets during the first game of the tri-series Down Under against England. Starc was on 49 wickets at the start of the game and got to his 50th wicket by dismissing Ian Bell first ball leg-before. Starc bowled a devastating first over as he had Bell and James Taylor leg-before to have England reeling at zero for two.

Starc has been one of the good one-day bowlers from Australia. He gets swing with the white ball and that bodes well for Australia. He has taken only 27 matches to get to the milestone and is a genuine wicket-taker for his side. A few days ago, he also got his 50th Test wicket as he had Suresh Raina dismissed leg-before in Sydney. Raina too was dismissed for a duck.

Such has been Starc’s impact in the ongoing game that it has had England in early trouble. Joe Root had walked out and Pat Cummins dismissed him in the fourth over. It was quite a good display of bowling by the Australians. Starc’s bowling helped Cummins also add to the pressure. Going into the ICC World Cup, Starc would be a crucial component in their side.
