New Zealand (NZ) after playing good in the post lunch session crumbled to 157 for 5  at stumps. Tom Latham and Martin Guptill looked good to carry New Zealand for a strong total against Australia’s huge total of 556/4. At tea NZ were a comfortable 43 for 0 with Latham and Guptill absorbing all the pressure thrown by Australian bowlers. Latham was looking forward to his 6th Test fifty before getting out Starc for 47. Once the Aussie bowlers got the taste of they just ripped throught the NZ batting line having  likes of Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor and Neesham in the kitty. Hazelwood was the second to strike  picking up Guptill who played a loose shot with Warner taking a sharp catch at slips. Kane Williamson  looked a class apart with driving Mitchell Johnson easily through the covers. ‘The sooner they came the sooner they went’ was the Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Johnson approach dismissing Taylor, McCullum and Neesham in a span of 3 overs with NZ 5 down for 115 runs chasing Australia’s 564/4.  LIVE SCORECARD: Australia vs New Zealand 2015, 1st Test at Brisbane

Brendon McCullum had a good morning session with his bowlers controling the flow of runs getting Steven Smith out for 48 with Trent Boult hitting the stumps.Usman Khawaja made a wonderful 174 before falling to Kane Williamson to a nothing shot. Khawaja was looking to get his first Test double hundred in his return game. Khawaja and Adam Voges started the day with Australia on 389/3 looking to score big. Brendon McCullum made good bowling changes keeping a tab on Khawaja and Voges. Australia had put up a huge target in front of New Zealand declaring at 556/4 in their first innings. Voges brought up his half century in the morning session. Steven Smith was bowled to a beauty by Trent Boult early into the session miss out on his half century. There was also bad news for the New Zealand team as Tim Southee was ruled out of bowling as he went for the field with a back disc injury
