Mithun Manhas, the former Delhi team captain, has been elected as the new BCCI president during the Annual General Meeting held on Sunday. The position became vacant after Roger Binny stepped down in August 2025, with Rajeev Shukla serving as interim president for a short period.

With this, Manhas becomes only the third former cricketer, after Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, to hold the role. Now, as he takes on one of the biggest challenges of his career, attention is also on the salary and perks he will receive as BCCI president.

The BCCI president’s role is honorary, so Mithun Manhas will not receive a fixed monthly or annual salary. Instead, he will be compensated through daily allowances and various perks to cover official expenses. These benefits are similar to those given to other top BCCI officials, such as the Secretary and Treasurer.

Whenever Mithun Manhas chairs a BCCI or other official meeting, he will receive a daily allowance. For domestic meetings, the allowance is Rs 40,000 per day, and for international meetings, it is USD 1,000 per day (around Rs 89,000), according to the Economic Times. When Mithun Manhas travels within India for official BCCI work, he will receive a daily travel allowance of Rs 30,000.

In addition to his allowances, the BCCI president receives business-class travel for domestic trips and first-class or business-class travel for international journeys. His accommodation is usually in high-end hotel suites during official travel.

Although the perks are attractive, Mithun Manhas will need to take on this high-profile role seriously. He will have to use his cricketing experience and administrative skills to lead Indian cricket effectively and justify the faith placed in him.
