New Zealand had an excellent series against Sri Lanka and will now face a tough side against Pakistan in the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) starting from Friday, January 15. Mohammad Aamer has shown great potential in Pakistan domestic cricket and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which has given him breakthrough in the national team. Wahab Riaz considers his inclusion helpful for the team in the coming series. “Amir is a great introduction to the team,” said Wahab on Wednesday to Cricbuzz. “He’s getting a chance. He’s a great fast bowler – he’s proved that in the past. It’s time for him to prove here as well, again. And he will prove it. With him there’s less pressure on me as a bowler because I’m getting his support. Umar Gul is back and is doing really well. It’s going to be a good combination for Pakistan.” New Zealand batsmen have come out strong against Sri Lanka and with the the momentum they are heading on, Pakistan need to head out strong. Riaz believes Aamer can give the breakthrough Pakistan is looking for and concede that they are going to attacking.

“Amir is a good in-swing bowler, bowling with the new ball,” he said. “He can bowl out-swing as well. If you can take wickets with the new ball the pressure will always be on the batsmen. That’s I’m saying that him coming into the team will help us more. “It seems like cricket is very easy these days for the New Zealand batsmen. They’ve been hitting balls really well. It’s going to be a different challenge because we have much more good bowlers than Sri Lanka. They lacked experience, but we have experience and some quality bowlers as well. It’s not going to be easy for them to score runs against us. We cannot sit back and see what they are doing. We will definitely attack, and let’s see. If they can play good cricket – hats off to them.” ALSO READ: Waqar Younis confident Mohammad Aamer will return to his best soon

New Zealand will not have Brendon McCullum on their side and will have to lead with Kane Williamson who takes on the responsibilities set by McCullum and Mike Hesson. “I’ve been enjoying stepping in for Brendon when he’s not around,” said Williamson. “We’ve been playing some good cricket together. What Brendon and Mike Hesson have created over a number of years has been huge for the team. Having the interim role as captain, it’s important that you continue the good things we’ve been doing. That’s a focus of mine. There are number of leaders in the team, all of whom need to take some responsibility,” he added.
