Mohammad Azharuddin has reportedly married for this third time in his life, this time. The former India skipper married long-time friend Shannon Marie, an American national, with whom he was first spotted at Paris in 2013 According to the Times of India (TOI), Shannon had introduced as ‘friend’. Azhar had earlier been married to Naureen, with whom he had two sons Asad and Ayaz, whom he divorced after nine years of marriage. He then married model-actress Sangeeta Bijlani in 1996 for a period of 14 years. His 19-year-old son Ayazuddin died in a road accident in Hyderabad in 2011, a year after his divorce with Sangeeta.

Azharuddin led the Indian cricket team for most of the 1990s. He was implicated in a match-fixing scandal in 2000, and banned for life. But later in 2012, the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the ban. “Azhar marries two of India’s greatest passions – cricket and films. The collaboration with MSM Motion Pictures further strengthens the pitch we’re playing on. Azhar is one of the greatest cricketers to have represented India, scoring more than 6,000 and 9,000 runs in 99 Tests and 334 One-Day Internationals (ODI) respectively. Azharuddin was the most successful Indian skipper in Tests for a long time with 14 wins, before he was ultimately overtaken by Sourav Ganguly (who was later bettered by MS Dhoni). He is also widely remembered as one of the best fielders in the slips.
