dhoni kaif

There were plenty of stories covered in the biopic based on Indian captain MS Dhoni‘s life and one of the interesting one was his One-Day International (ODI) debut, against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004 at Chittagong. Before making his debut, Dhoni had already become quite famous in domestic circuit for his hard-hitting shots and aggressive batting. Also, Dhoni was expected to get selected in the Indian side for Under-19 World Cup in 2000 but couldn t make it. Dhoni is of same age group as Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif, but came quite late on the international scene as compared to the other two.

In the movie ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, it was explained quite well how Dhoni toiled hard to get into the Indian side. Before making his debut, once his friends said that players like Yuvraj, Kaif and Ajay Ratra were of Dhoni s batch. Those three got the chance to play for India but when will Dhoni get his chance?

Well, finally the day came when Captain Sourav Ganguly chose Dhoni over Dinesh Karthik and Naman Ojha for Bangladesh tour. Dhoni went out to bat and there were high hopes on him from friends and families. It was the fifth ball of the 42nd over when Dhoni came to bat at number seven. Left-arm Bangladesh spinner Mohammad Rafique bowled a decent delivery, a bit full, which he played towards fine leg and ran. From the other end, Kaif ran a bit but then denied and asked Dhoni to go back as fielder Tapash Baishya had already got the ball. Dhoni could not make it to crease and was run out by Baishya and wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud.

He was clearly heartbroken, as he made his way back to the dressing room. It can be difficult for anyone to get out on duck and that too via run out on the first ball of his career. As per the movie, Dhoni s friends immediately said that it was Kaif s mistake not Dhoni s.

With the release of the movie, Kaif, after watching it, posted his views about the film from his official Facebook account and denied that it was his fault while praising the movie as well. Kaif also wrote that he first met Dhoni in a Deodhar Trophy match between Central Zone and East Zone, where the Jharkhand boy scored a quick 84 for his side.

Later, Dhoni managed to get few more chances in Indian side and soon he cemented his place and since then there was no looking back for him. Currently, the movie is running excellently and is expected to break some records at the box office.
