India’s sidelined star shines as Bengal beat Services in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

India veteran Mohammed Shami continued his strong domestic form, picking up a brilliant 4 for 13 to help Bengal beat Services by seven wickets in a Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Thursday.

This victory was Bengal’s fourth win in five matches, taking them to 16 points and putting Abhimanyu Easwaran’s team at the top of the group standings, well on track for the knockout stage.

Shami, Akash Deep set up Bengal’s win

Shami was the clear standout performer, earning the Player of the Match award for his spell of 4/13 from 3.2 overs. He struck twice in his first spell, removing openers Gaurav Kocchar for 0 and Ravi Chauhan for a quick 26 off 9 balls.
He later returned to clean up the tail.

Akash Deep also bowled well, taking 3 for 27, while off-spinner Writtick Chatterjee chipped in with 2 for 32. Together, the bowlers restricted Services to 165 in 18.2 overs.

Meanwhile, pacer Mukesh Kumar had a rough outing, conceding 53 runs in his 3 overs.

Easwaran, Porel guide Bengal in easy chase

Chasing 166, Bengal made it look easy as captain Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a fluent 58 off 37 balls.
He got solid support from Abhishek Porel, who smashed 56 off just 29 balls.
