Mohinder Amarnath dismissed as national selector

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday sacked Mohinder Amarnath from the selection committee which might have resulted due to an argument with Krisnamachari Srikkanth.

According to Zee News, Amarnath will be replaced by Punjab s Vikram Rathore as the zonal selector.

With Amarnath s ouster, Roger Binny, from South Zone is the frontrunner for the post of chief selector. Even Sandeep Patil is in line to be the next chairman of selectors.

“Mohinder Amarnath had a tiff with Srikkanth as he wanted to replace (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni with (Virender) Sehwag (in the aftermath of India`s row of eight Test defeats in England and Australia). As captain of Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni has the backing of the president (N Srinivasan),” a BCCI source revealed.

Srikkanth, Narendra Hirwani (Central), Raja Venkat (East) and Surendra Bhave (West) having completed their term are no more eligible to continue in their respective posts, according to BCCI norms.

Others who has been selected as zonal selectors are Rajinder Singh Hans (Central), Vikram Rathour (North) and Saba Karim(East).
