Chief selector Mohsin Khan has been appointed as the interim coach of Pakistan for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, starting October 18.
“Mohsin is appointed coach only for the Sri Lanka series until the board completes the process of appointing a new fulltime coach of the national team,” PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar told reporters.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for a new coach after the resignation of Waqar Younis, who stepped down citing personal reasons after the recent tour of Zimbabwe.
Mohsin has been the Pakistan chief selector since last year. He played 48 Tests and 75 One-Day Internationals as an opening batsman.
Pakistan led by Misbah-ul-Haq will play three Tests, five ODIs and one-off Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka. The team will leave on October 14. All the matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
