English spinner Monty Panesar has affirmed that he was out of sorts after being dropped from the English side. He said that he took a break from the gentleman’s game after “falling out of love with the game.” Last week he played for Essex in a county cricket match against Surrey. This was his first match after a long time. The slow left-arm orthodox said that he has a fond desire to coach young budding spinners. Panesar has a two-year contract with Essex. He took five wickets in the game in a losing encounter with Surrey. This match took place in Colchester, England. Panesar was quoted as saying to Daily Telegraph and skysports.com, “few people know the extent of my personal challenges. I fell out of love with cricket during the winter partly due to not being involved with England. In pre-season I was unhappy about several aspects of my career and life, but I am now feeling refreshed, re-energised and refocused in becoming the best version of Monty I can be, on and off the field of play. I am now prioritising my well-being first and my cricket second, even though cricket is a very big priority in my life. I love cricket and I love bowling. I want to play at the top level again and also, one day, coach young spinners.” ALSO READ: Monty Panesar’s interaction on Facebook after Pee-gate incident

The 33-year old said that he feels obliged to the supporters of Essex who gave him such an overwhelming welcome on his return to cricket. “The supporters at Essex are brilliant and it reminded me of the wonderful reception I got when I first played for the club long back in 2013, which was also at Castle Park. The way they first received me is one of the main reasons why I decided to sign for the club on a full-time basis after the initial enjoyable period on loan. And despite my difficulties they remain very good towards me,” he added.

Panesar hopes that he will return to form before facing Pakistan in England’s tour to UAE in October. Neil Burns, his coach says: “I know that he really wants to go to UAE this winter and recreate the success he has had against Pakistan previously. He loves bowling in the UAE. I think he is the best spin bowler in England.” ALSO READ: Pakistan to host England in UAE for 3 Tests, 4 ODIs and 3 T20Is in October-November 2015
