Just days before the commencement of the Champions Trophy, Team India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel had to fly back home from Dubai due to the death of his father.

Morkel had arrived in Dubai along with the rest of the team on February 15 and was a part of the team’s practice sessions in the Middle-East region.

However, Morkel wasn’t a part of the team’s practice session on Monday and it was later reported that Morkel will be returning home due to the personal emergency.

As per a report by Dainik Jagran, Morkel’s return is not yet confirmed and his absence will affect India’s chances of winning the Champions Trophy.

The Men in Blue are set to begin their Champions Trophy campaign with the clash against Bangladesh on February 20 before facing-off against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. They will be finishing their group stage campaign with the clash against New Zealand on March 2.
