Indian skipper MS Dhoni became only the seventh glovesman in the history of Test cricket to notch up 4,000 runs.
Dhoni, 31, reached the milestone by hitting a six over wide long-on off Nathan Lyon during his innings against Australia at the MA Chidambaram stadium.
The others who lead Dhoni in this list include Adam Gilchrist (5570), Alec Stewart (4540), Mark Boucher (5515), Andy Flower (4404), Alan Knott (4389) and Ian Healy (4356). The Indian wicketkeeper also went past Sourav Ganguly’s 2561 runs as captain in Tests.

Dhoni, thereby, scored his sixth hundred in Test cricket and helped India go past the Australian total of 380 and gain a lead. Coming in at No 6, he stitched a 128-run partnership with Virat Kohli who scored 107 runs.
