Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday created record when he went past Sourav Gangulyâs record of most consecutive wins as an Indian cricket captain in World Cup tournaments. Dhoni achieved the feat when India slammed Ireland by eight wickets in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournamentâs Pool B match at Hamilton. India register record 9th consecutive win in World Cup, trounce Ireland by 8 wickets
Dhoni has now nine wins in a row, with the string of Indian victories starting in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament, which was won by his side. In the ongoing tournament, Dhoniâs Indian cricket team has won five matches in a row, and is also at the top spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournamentâs Pool B Points Table. MS Dhoni registers most wins as Indian captain in World Cup cricket history
On the other hand, Ganguly achieved the feat with the Indian cricket team back in 2003, when they went undefeated for eight matches. India lost to Australia in the final of the tournament, held in South Africa.
Here are the matches Indian cricket team has won under MS Dhoni:

| 1 | vs West Indies | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 | won by 80 runs |
| 2 | vs Australia | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 | won by 5 wickets |

Here are the matches Indian cricket team won under Sourav Ganguly:

Given the form the current Indian cricket team is in, there is a high possibility of the team extending their unbeaten run in this World Cup 2015. India will be playing against Zimbabwe in their final group match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, and in all likelihood, they will be playing the quarter-final against Bangladesh.
