MS Dhoni completed his 16,000 international runs during the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka at Dharamsala. While Virat Kohli recently got to the landmark and was the fastest to it, Dhoni is the slowest. Dhoni is the sixth Indian batsman to have touched the landmark, after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag and Kohli.

Dhoni has scored 4,876 runs in Tests, 9,891 runs in ODIs (at the time of writing this), and 1,281 runs in T20Is so far in his career. He has scored 16 centuries and 100 half-centuries across formats.

India struggled at Dharamsala on Sunday, as they were reduced to 29 for 7 after being asked to bat by Sri Lanka. Dhoni, along with Kuldeep Yadav, did some damage control and revived them to 70 for 8, going past India’s lowest ODI total of 54.
