In the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014, Chennai Super Kings’s moved along to the modest target of 154 quite3 slowly with Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni at the crease. After Dwayne Smith’s stunning cameo at the start of the innings, Chennai’s scoring rate had slipped down remarkably with Yuvraj and Yuzvendra Chahal’s overs only yielding 3 runs each. Yuvraj had scalped the wicket of the prolific Suresh Raina.

An unfortunate incident happened when Dhoni was sent back while taking a run by Faf du Plessis. Dhoni turned and twisted his ankle and the Chennai and Indian captain was limping on the field. Yuvraj then came back and bowled another economical over and Chahal bowled a good over too before a paddle sweep from Dhoni earned his team the first boundary in 33 overs.

Earlier in the match, Virat Kohli’s innings of 73 helped Royal Challengers Bangalore post a competitive total of 154 for six against the Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Bangalore stuttered early, but it was Kohli’s knock that took them to this total. The second highest contribution on the day was 25. Ashish Nehra marked his comeback with three wickets, all of them bowled.
