MS Dhoni laughs off retirement suggestions

Sydney: MS Dhoni, the Indian captain, laughed off retirement questions in the aftermath of India’s defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 semi-final to Australia. In a press-conference filled with humorous moments, Dhoni was calm and ready for every questions. In a cheeky tone, he asked the media to decide about his retirement. With a smile on his face, Dhoni said, “It’s up to you guys. The media should do a nice research on it, take a few days, and my advice will be whatever you decide, right the complete opposite, yeah, that will be the fact. Dhoni was also asked about his legacy in one-day cricket and his reply was typical. “You know, frankly for me, it doesn’t really matter. For me every time I turn up, for me what’s important is to do something special so that I can be part of or I can contribute to the win,” he said.

Later, Dhoni was asked a question about his future in Hindi, to which he replied, “Abhi buddha nahi hua hoon.” (Hindi for: I haven’t become an old man yet). He then went on to repeat his earlier suggestion, asking the media to come up with their theories.

In defeat, Dhoni maintained his dignity and gave the media a very candid chat. His press conference was full of humorous insights. Coming at a time when he has lost the world crown, it shows great character.
