MS Dhoni will be India preferred wicketkeeper for India till the ICC World Cup 2019. A fact that has now been confirmed by BCCI Chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad on Saturday. Prasad also said that apart from Dhoni, other keepers in the country will be given chances along the way. The last few years have seen fans, critics and former players question Dhoni’s place in the Indian limited-overs squad.

If Dhoni is indeed chosen for the 2019 edition, he will be playing his fourth World Cup for India.  According to Cricbuzz, Prasad said: “MS Dhoni still remains the number one wicketkeeper in the world. The stumpings that he does, the catches that he takes, it’s just phenomenal. There’s no comparison. I don’t see any other wicketkeeper even close to him in world cricket, forget about Indian cricket.”

On young wicketkeepers in India

“We are grooming some wicketkeepers in the India A tours. We have fixed our minds till the World Cup and in the latter stages after that will try and bring in those young guys. Let me tell you frankly that those boys are still not up to the mark where we would have liked them to be. We will keep giving them chances in the India A tours and make sure they are nurtured properly.”

Dhoni is facing competition from Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Naman Ojha, Sanju Samson and Parthiv Patel.
