MS Dhoni quits ODI, T20I captaincy; Twitterati troll Yograj Singh

Amar-Prem, Laila-Majnu, Wasim-Waqar, Tom and Jerry, and so on… One word seems to be incomplete without the other. The same applies to Yograj Singh. When did you last hear this name without the mention of MS Dhoni? Yes, Yograj is a former Indian cricketer, a popular actor and father of Yuvraj Singh, who has found a way to the spotlight with none of the aforementioned but by cursing Dhoni. With the announcement of Dhoni resigning as the ODI and T20I skipper, it was a matter of time that Yograj would become a national trend.

Yograj has been critical about Dhoni’s captaincy. No, wait. Yograj was critical of Dhoni for not selecting his son Yuvraj for the ICC World Cup 2015. When Yuvraj was back in the limited-overs set up, he blamed Dhoni for under-bowling him. Over the years, Yograj has cursed Dhoni to become ‘penniless one day’ and has even compared him to the mythic demon Ravana. If Yograj could, he would have also blamed Dhoni for say ‘beef-ban’ or India’s poor show in Olympics.

Luckily, he had  competitors in Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to blame debacles on anything Modi, saffron or red. Anyways let us not get into that.

Unfortunately, Yograj and his PR team will have to find something novel to stay in news;if anyone actually cares. However, what we will be curious to know is how Dhoni’s captaincy for Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) will  affect Yuvraj’s outing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 10. Meanwhile, Dhoni and Yuvraj remain cordial and continue to share  mutual respect. Expect a Yuvraj tribute tweet to Dhoni too.
