India‘s former skipper MS Dhoni, scored his 10th century, during the second of the three-match ODI series against England at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on Thursday. His ton came off 106 deliveries, and included 9 boundaries and 3 sixes; he scored at a strike rate of 94, and more ominously, he looks set for a big knock. Dhoni’s last ton in ODI came back in 2013, when he smashed an unbeaten 139 against Australia at Mohali. Unfortunately, India lost the match by 4 wickets. Currently, India are 281 for 4 in 43 overs, with MS Dhoni on 100, and Yuvraj Singh being dismissed on 150.
Earlier during the tie, swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh too scored his 14th ODI ton. His ton came off 98 deliveries, and included 15 boundaries and a six; he scored at a strike rate of 102, and more ominously, he looks set for a big knock. Yuvraj’s last ton in ODI came way back in 2011 during the 2011 World Cup, where he smashed 113 against West Indies at Chennai.
Earlier, Eoin Morgan had elected to bowl on a flat surface in Cuttack. England brought in Liam Plunkett for Adil Rashid, while India left out Umesh Yadav for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Plunkett had played an ODI series in India back in 2006, and has been in and out of the team since then. However, he famously hit a last-ball six to tie a match against Sri Lanka last year.
