MS Dhoni suggests Michael Hussey to replace Duncan Fletcher as India coach
Dhoni suggests Michael Hussey's name for India coach

Jan 1, 2015
After shocking the world by announcing his retirement from Tests, MS Dhoni has apparently pitched the name of Michael Hussey to take over the reins from Duncan Fletcher as the coach of India. There are reports suggesting that Dhoni could retire even from One-Day Internationals (ODI) after the ICC World Cup 2015.
Fletcher’s contract expires after ICC World Cup 2015 and Dhoni believes that the team hasn’t gelled with Fletcher as they did with former coach Gary Kirsten, under whom India won the ICC World Cup 2011. Dhoni has apparently communicated this to the top brass of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), reports Hindustan Times.
Hussey’s closeness to Dhoni during the Indian Premier League (IPL), where both of them played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is said to be the reason for Dhoni suggesting Hussey’s name for the job. Given BCCI’s record in the past, they have always consulted former players like Ravi Shasrti and Sunil Gavaskar before appointing the coach. Fletcher has been under sever scrutiny after yet another year of abysmal overseas record, in which India managed to win just one Test. Michael Hussey has played 79 Tests and 185 ODIs for Australia.
Dhoni announced his retirement after the third Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground ended in a draw. India will now be lead by Virat Kohli, who lead India in the first Test at Adelaide, which India lost by 48 runs.
