MS Dhoni required three dismissals to hold the record for most dismissals in T20Is. AB de Villiers had 72 to his name, while nobody else has more than 60 — ofcourse among Sri Lankans, Kumar Sangakkara leads with 45. Nonetheless, it took Dhoni only 11.1 overs to dismantle de Villiers’ record in the current first T20I between India and Sri Lanka at Cuttack. In this way, he attains most T20I dismissals with no such competition in the pipeline.

Dhoni and keeping go hand-in-hand

No, I shouldn’t even think about writing this. My profession doesn’t allow me to state anything like — there are no words left. But, it is true. Dhoni has left nothing for us (writers) to jot down about his wicketkeeping skills. Talking about skills, Dhoni has made it big in his career owing to his own trusted (unorthodox) skills. Same has been the case while donning the glooves. Dhoni has remained proactive, timing his movement according to the ball’s line and length, to attain vital catches and inflict quickfire stumping. As a result, Dhoni has instilled 74 dismissals (47 catches and 27 stumping) at the time of publishing this report.

In the ongoing first T20I at Cuttack, Dhoni has accounted for 2 catches and 2 stumping. All of them have come off spinners — three in Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling.
