Dhoni to retire? Speculation rises during CSK vs DC match

MS Dhoni’s parents, Pan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Devi, were present at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. Interestingly, this marked the first time they attended an IPL match at the venue since Dhoni’s association with CSK began back in 2008. His wife, Sakshi, and daughter, Ziva, were also seen at the stadium, though their presence at IPL matches in Chennai is quite common.

Before the game, speculation was that Dhoni might captain the side due to uncertainty over Ruturaj Gaikwad’s fitness. However, Gaikwad eventually took the field as captain.

The presence of Dhoni’s parents sparked rumours, with many speculating whether he might announce his retirement today.

There were rumours that Dhoni might lead CSK, as regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured during the clash against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati last Sunday. But all the rumours were ruled out when Gaikwad came out for the toss.

Gaikwad said at the toss: “My elbow is good, eager to go.” Hence, Dhoni carried out his usual wicketkeeping duties and could possibly be seen in action again when the Chennai comes out to chase.
