Wankhede Stadium, final of a gala tournament, and MS Dhoni. Don’t they make a perfect recipe? The toss was supposed to be a tense affair but Dhoni made sure the fans got to see the lighter side. Dhoni, leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK), flipped the coin and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Kane Williamson called “tails”. It turned out to be “heads”. Sanjay Manjrekar, official host of the toss, went to Dhoni asking, “You called heads?”.

Dhoni (pointing to Williamson): “He called tails.”

Williamson pointed towards Dhoni indicating that CSK had won the toss.

Manjrekar to Dhoni: “Yes, you called heads?”

Dhoni: “No, he called tails.”

After seconds of confusion, an irate Manjrekar told Dhoni, “MS, stop fooling around!”

A smiling Dhoni conceded: “We will bowl first. Looking at our bowling and batting, our batting will have to look to take extra pressure. The journey has been good. It is not something that you can always predict. There were challenges thrown at us. We had a core group of players with us but other than that it was a fresh squad. We have one change. Karn Sharma comes in for Harbhajan Singh.”

Manjrekar is amongst the most-trolled former cricketers on social media. Dhoni’s act obviously made internet more ruthless towards the cricketer.

Of course, Dhoni cannot be blamed here for being technically correct. Williamson had indeed called “tails”. And only one captain calls, the other flips.
