Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay’s mammoth 370 runs partnership is now the highest for India for the second wicket in Test cricket. It has been a stand that has frustrated the touring Australians and put India in a commanding position in the second Test at Hyderabad.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay’s mammoth 370 runs partnership is now the highest for India for the second wicket in Test cricket. It has been a stand that has frustrated the touring Australians and put India in a commanding position in the second Test at Hyderabad.
Pujara and Vijay moved past the previous record of 344 by Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar. The two batsmen from yesteryear amassed that unbeaten stand against the West Indies at Kolkata in 1978-79. They were also looking good to beat the best partnership for India against Australia — which was the memorable 376 by Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman at Kolkata in 2001.
