Indian opener Murali Vijay on Saturday completed his 1,000 runs in Test cricket, during the second day’s play in the fourth and final Test match against Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.

Vijay reached the feat with a single off Australia spinner Nathan Lyon in the 20th over of the Indian innings.

Vijay, who made his Test debut for India at Nagpur against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series in 2008-09, has played 15 Tests.

The right-handed batsman has been in tremendous form in the ongoing series against Australia, scoring back-to-back tons in the second and third Test to help India retain the series.
