Murali Vijay, Hashim Amla out early in Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) vs Delhi Daredevils (DD) IPL 2016 Match 36 at Mohali

Murali Vijay was the first man out, while Hashim Amla followed soon after for Delhi Daredevils (DD) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Match 36 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 at Mohali on Saturday. Vijay started brilliantly, smashing 4 fours in his 16-ball innings. Vijay and Marcus Stoinis put on 45 for the opening wicket in a mere 5.4 overs before Vijay was dismissed. Vijay struck one from Chris Morris firmly on the leg side but was held wonderfully by Carlos Brathwaite at midwicket. Amla, playing his first ever match in IPL, came in at No. 3 instead of as opener. However, his innings was all too brief. Amla and Stoinis, perhaps batting together for the first time ever, clearly struggled with communication. Stoinis was guilty of ball-watching repeatedly, as both he and Amla were nearly run out twice in the same Shahbaz Nadeem over, only for Nadeem to falter while fielding the ball both times. Ultimately Amla did get run out, in that very same over, when he was unable to get back in time to beat Zaheer Khan’s throw.
