Murali Vijay‘s good show in the ongoing four-Test series in Australia has made him the highest run-getter as Indian openers in Australian soil. On Day Five of the Fourth and final  Test in Sydney, Vijay got past Virender Sehwag‘s record of 464 runs in the 2003-04 series.

Meanwhile in this process he also scored his fourth fifty in the series. He also has a hundred on this Tour. India are chasing 349 to win the  Sydney Test. Vijay has held the innings together with his sound batting. He had initially put up an opening stand of 48 runs with KL Rahul. After that, he put another solid stand with Rohit Sharma. Now, Virat Kohli is in the middle and will be trying to complete the job pushing for a win. At Tea India are 160 for 2. They need 189 runs in remaining 33 overs to win the Test and salvage some pride.
