Murali Vijay reached a stroke-filled half-century at Trent Bridge against England in the first session of Day One. Vijay had started proceedings for India in style in the very first over of the day’s play with three boundaries of James Anderson. Since then, there was no looking back for the Tamil Nadu opener as he went from strength to strength on a dead wicket to bring up only his second half-century on foreign soil.

England bowlers were unable to get any of the famed swing and movement that is associated with the Nottingham pitch. Shikhar Dhawan’s premature departure too, did not deter Vijay. India’s No 3, Cheteshwar Pujara is looking good at the crease and duo have crossed their 50 run stand and look good to score big scores.
