Tamil Nadu will be bolstered by the return of Murali Vijay and allrounder Washington Sundar after both were drafted back into the side for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Tamil Nadu have won four out of six matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to have 16 points in Elite Group C, and have registered comprehensive wins against Assam, Services and Bengal.

As the race for the quarterfinals gain momentum, Vijay and Washington s addition bolsters an already line-up for Tamil Nadu. Vijay, who was dropped during India s tour of England, went on to score a century and three half-centuries for Essex in the Division One County Championship and should slot in as the team s first-choice opener. The effectiveness of Washington however, remains doubtful considering he hasn t played a game since the IPL due to an ankle injury.

The players to have been replaced are C Hari Nishanth and Yo Mahesh. While Nishanth was yet to get a game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mahesh gave away 50 runs while picking up two wickets in the game against Assam while Tamil Nadu won handsomely by 130 runs before he was injured.

With four wins in six matches, Tamil Nadu are placed fifth in their group and have a difficult task of qualifying for the quarterfinals with just three matches remaining. Table-toppers Jharkhand have five wins, followed by Services, who are behind in the net run-rate. Haryana and Gujarat also have four wins in six games but a superior run-rate than Tamil Nadu makes them better contenders.
