Mustafizur Rahman is set to miss the start of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 due to an ankle injury. Fizz has been out of international cricket after he went down with a grade-two lateral ankle injury during the ongoing South Africa tour. He has flown back to the subcontinent. He will also miss the upcoming T20I series that will follow. Bangladesh are yet to win a match on their ongoing tour. Mustafizur will join his franchise Rajshahi Kings after sitting out from the initial matches.

Rajshahi Kings team physician Debashish Chowdhury: He will need under complete rest for the next two weeks and that will allow him to have one-month lay-off that I believe will be enough for recovery. However, in the meantime he will be doing the rehabilitation program that began from Wednesday. After completing this last two weeks of his rehabilitation program he will need some more time to get back into bowling fitness and only then can we say when he can return to the field.

Mustafizur injured himself during a football practice session in South Africa. Rajshahi Kings will be hopeful of his speedy recovery before BPL 2017 gets to its business end. The fifth edition will begin from November 4. The Kings will face Rangpur Riders in the second game of the opening day.
