In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014, Delhi Daredevils made a bad start, while chasing down a monstrous target of 191 runs on the board set by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Quinton de Kock did survive a survive a run out with Muttiah Muralitharan not being able to collect the ball at his end. However, the wily spinner immediately struck by dismissing, Murali Vijay from around the wicket to trap him in front. Delhi have a task on their hands to chase this target down, as they also lost Quinton de Kock during the second over of the game.
Earlier, Yuvraj Singh thwacked majestic sixes off Imran Tahir, the leg-spinner. He even picked his googly to smash him for a six. He helped Bangalore to collect 27 runs of the final over. He was at his willowy best in the end overs and that helped Bangalore to end up with 186 for four of their allotted 20 overs.
Actually, it was Chris Gayle who thumped a few towering shots early on, especially, when part-time off-spinner, JP Duminy bowled a few overs. He though, was dismissed by Rahul Shukla at the right time from Delhiâs point of view. Gayle came down the wicket to hoick him across the line. But Shukla bowling from around the wicket tucked him up for room and sent his stumps for a long walk in the park. Once he was dismissed, they also lost Virat Kohli through the run out mode.
