My career far from over, says Herschelle Gibbs

Former South African dashing opening batsman, Herschelle Gibbs who has arrived in India for Champions League T20 cleared air on various issues from his retirement to his controversial book.
Gibbs said he will never change his batting style. He said,”In cricket everybody needs a bit of luck and if luck goes my way, then I can be as dangerous as anyone.To play shots is an instinct, and there have been times where I have rued the shot I played.”
He cleared the air on his plans of retirement. He was quoted in Deccan Chronicle as saying,”I am far from finished. Mark Ramprakash is still playing at the age of 42. There are a lot of guys in the counties playing over 40.
“I’d like to achieve and improve all the time. With regards to the Cobras, I’ve done well for them in limited overs cricket and feel very comfortable. I want to play for the Proteas in the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. I still enjoy every game I play, and I think there is another three seasons left in me.”
His controversial book published last year made lot of headlines last year. But Gibbs said he intended to write this book to be an honest account of his experiences as South African player. “on Back home, a lot of people talked about it. I didn’t deliberately want it to be a controversial one. It was a very honest account of things, and that facet was appreciated by the readers and teammates alike,” he said.
“It was life as I saw it. I was relieved once the book was published,” he added.
Gibbs was also high on praise for South Africa’s new coach Gary Kirsten. He said,” In the past, I have seen many coaches being tense and a bit afraid of situations. But Gary has a wealth of experience at the top level and extremely composed. So he will definitely be successful.”
Gibbs talked about the strengths of his team Cape Cobras. He feels fielding is their main strngth which will help them to save runs during power plays.
“Fielding is definitely our strength. With the likes of Justin Kemp, J.P. Duminy, Justin Ontong and myself we form a strong cordon in the inner ring. It gives us an advantage during the power plays,” said Gibbs.
