N Srinivasan handing over ICC World Cup 2015 Trophy triggers new controversy

Melbourne: A controversy is reportedly brewing over the presentation of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The ICC Chairman, N Srinivasan, presented the trophy to Michael Clarke and his victorious Australian team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. However, according to the constitution of the ICC, the president has to give away the trophy. Mustafa Kamal, the ICC president, was conspicuous by his absence during the ICC World Cup 2015 final presentation. Leading up to the final, there was a report in the Indian newspaper The Telegraph that Srinivasan had held an informal meeting and it was then decided that he would give away the trophy. The whole controversy is said to have come about after Kamal passed controversial remarks about the umpiring during the game between India and Bangladesh earlier in the tournament.
