Australian off- spinner Nathan Lyon on December 28, 2013 took his 100th wicket in Tests during the fourth Ashes 2013-14 Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Lyon achieved the feat in his 29th Test match. He claimed the wickets of Ian Bell (0), Ben Stokes (19), Jonny Bairstow (21) and Stuart Broad (0) in England’s second innings to reach the milestone. He also took the wicket of Kevin Pietersen (49) later in the innings.
That was his fifth wicket in the innings. He had taken the wicket of Monty Panesar in the first innings.
The 26-year-old cricketer made his Test debut in August 2011 against Sri Lanka at Galle, picking five wickets in the match.
He is the 35th Australian to collect 100 wickets in Test. Charlie Turner is the fastest Australian to reach 100-wicket milestone from 17 matches. Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne tops the list of most wickets in career with 708 wickets to his name.
