Nathan Lyon surpasses Hugh Trumble to become Australia's leading off-spinner
Nathan Lyon has had excellent outings in the last couple of series.
Nathan Lyon is now the Australia's leading wicket-taking off-spinner after he went passed Hugh Trumble during Day Two of the second Test against West Indies at Kingston, Jamaica. Trumble had 141 wickets in 32 Tests between 1890-1904. Lyon, who is playing his 41st Test has 144 wickets. He dismissed Darren Bravo for 14 to surpass the former off-spinner. Lyon ended Day Two with figures of three for 35, to reduce West Indies to 143 for eight at the close of play. Lyon made is Test debut against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2011. he has ever since been a force to be reckoned with and has been an integral part of Australia's bowling setup. The leading wicket-taker for Australia in Tests happens to be leg-spinner Shane Warne with 708 wickets to his name. Lyon had equaled Trumble's record in the first Test against West Indies at Dominica, which Australia comfortably won by nine wickets.
