Nepal missed a huge chance to cause a major upset in T20 World Cup as South Africa managed to edge them on the final ball of the match. South Africa won the match by just 1 run in a thrilling encounter at Kingstown on Friday.

After being invited to bat first, South Africa managed to score just 115 runs on the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Reeza Hendricks was the top scorer for South Africa with 43 runs. Fantastic bowling spells from Kushal Bhurtel (4/19) and Dipendra Singh Airee (3/21) were the main reasons why South Africa was restricted to such a low score.

In reply, Nepal also found it difficult to score runs against the strong South African bowling attack. Thanks to good knocks from Aasif Sheikh and Anil Sah, Nepal managed to take the match to the final over where they required 8 runs. However, South Africa managed to hang on thanks to a last ball run out which denied Nepal of creating history as the Proteas won the match by just a run and continued their unbeaten run in the tournament.

Tabraiz Shamsi won the player of the match award thanks to his fabulous spell of 4/19 which really helped South Africa in restricting Nepal to 114/7 in 20 overs. With this loss, Nepal was eliminated from the T20 World Cup, however, all of their players can hold their heads high because they really gave it their all on the field and almost won a match against one of the best teams in the world that too in an international tournament.
