New Zealand beat the West Indies by 81 runs in the first Twenty20 International at Eden Park on Saturday. New Zealand, who elected to bat first, made 189 for five and the West Indies were 108 for eight at the end of their 20 overs.
In the New Zealand innings, Brendon McCullum made 60 not out and Luke Ronchi scored 48 not out. Tino Best took three for 40 for the West Indies.
Andre Fletcher top-scored for the West Indies with 23 and Nathan McCullum took four for 24. James Neesham took three wickets for 16 runs. Ronchi was the Man of the Match. The second and last T20I of the series is at Wellington on January 15.
