Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill played steady knocks to help New Zealand recover after the early wickets of Walting and Brendon McCullum against West Indies on the first day of the second Test at Kingston on Thursday.

 

Earlier, Darren Sammy decided to field after winning the toss.

 

New Zealand came into the match with two changes with BJ Walting and Trent Boult replacing Daniel Flynn and Daniel Vettori respectively.

 

West Indies are currently leading the two-match series 1-0
